The comparisons are inevitable – two highly anticipated first person shooters available on all the major gaming platforms, xbox 360, PS3 and PC (the first Crysis was available only on the PC and was legendary for the ‘Crysis Stress Test’ – if your gaming PC could run Crysis it could run just about anything).

A quick scan around the net reveals a lot of excitement around the release date of Crysis 2, much the same as the fanfare that surrounded Call of Duty: Black Ops when it was first released (Call of Duty: Black Ops’ release date was November 9, 2010 and Crysis 2 has a release date of March 24, 2011).

On many forums there are claims that Crysis 2 is easily the game of the year but given that we’re only 3 months in to the year I think it might be a bit early to make that call – especially with some big title games such as Max Payne 3, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Gears of War 3, and Killzone 3 (wow, it’s the year of the threequel!) all coming out in 2011.

On the other hand there are more than just a few comments floating around that think ‘anything is better than Call of Duty’. Just a little bit harsh, and if you go looking you’ll quickly find comments that think Black Ops is the greatest game on Earth.

So it really just boils down to your own personal opinion, but if you’re asking me, my pick is Crysis 2.

P.S. has anyone played Black Ops on the DS? Is it any good?
